GENERAL
The Mountain View Family Youth Center will be open after school from 3
p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Cost is $2 per day and includes different activities such as basketball,
skating, volleyball, board games, and more for each day of the week. For

The Howell County Democrat's Club meets
on the second Tuesday of each month, rotating its visits among the
towns of West Plains, Willow Springs and Mt. View. All Democrats are

The Ozark Independent Living will be
visiting Eminence the 4th of each month in the Eminence
Senior Citizens Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free informational
services are provided for the disabled and elderly such as assistive
devices, legislative efforts, peer support, advocacy, TAP, TAP Internet,
and information and referrals. Independent In-Home services include
basic personal care, nurse visits, advanced personal care, respite, and
homemaker chores. There is also Consumer Directed Services for your

The public is invited to the Texas County Commission open house and
dedication of the Texas County Justice Center and Texas County jail on
November 1 at 2 p.m. for the dedication, refreshments, and tours of
the new and much needed Justice Center and jail which is near
completion and will begin in the near future.
Friends of the Mountain View Public Library will hold their
monthly book sale on Saturday, November 1, in the conference room of
the library from 8 a.m. to noon. All books are 25 cents each and
magazines are 10 cents.
The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce and Romines Motor Company present
“The 2008 Texas County Fall Demo Derby” on Saturday, November 1 at 6
p.m. featuring a truck derby, car derby and powder puff. This is
located at the Texas County Fairgrounds. The purse is $4200 PLUS and
additional $1000 from Romines Motor Company for the highest finishing
FORD truck. Tickets are 10$ for Adults, 5$ for children 5-12, and

A Christmas Shopping Open House is being held on Saturday,
November 1, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Mountain View, MO
Community Building. Several vendors will have their products on
display and for sale. All are invited to come shop for quality
Christmas gifts and enjoy a festive atmosphere, including
complimentary holiday refreshments, music, and drawings. Admission is
free.
Clarence and Mary Ann Crider will celebrate their life long commitment
to their God, family, community, and bluegrass music on November 1st
at the Family Youth Center in Summersville, MO. Dinner including
chili, ham & beans, sloppy joes, chips, crackers and cheese, corn
bread, and home made desserts, begins at 5 p.m. Donations are welcome.
At 6 p.m., many musical guests will be featured.
The Texas County Community Hospital will have a Chili Cook-off at the
Fairgrounds on November 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
